Travel Day: Goodbye Yangshuo, Hello Xi'an
Much of today is a travel day, so relatively uneventful. One thing's clear: I think we're all going to miss Yangshuo. Nestled in the mountains with so many things to do nearby, the town gave such a cool vibe. We rode our bus back to Guilin, killed a few hours eating lunch, and went to the airport to catch a flight to Xi'an. We got to Xi'an pretty late, so the group caught dinner at a Singaporean restaurant, Larry's Kitchen. I got some noodles that tasted very similar to Lo Mein back home and some forgettable salt-and-pepper shrimp.
On the bus leaving Yangshuo
Back to Guilin for lunch
Some breakfast 'bruschetta' thing. Not bad.
The Bell Tower in Xi'an lit up at night. Our hotel is just a block away.
Dinner at Xi'an the first night
Fruit street cart. Canteloupe on a stick was popular among the locals.
Before heading back to the hotel, we strolled through the Muslim Quarter, an open air market filled with non-stop food and shopping options. We ate dinner at the Muslim Quarter the next day, but since today's post is pretty short, I'll post pics from tomorrow's dinner below.
Beef balls with spices.
Plum tea. Tasted like a good-tasting prune juice.
Packed dough dessert. Not very good.
Fried quesadilla-like pancake. I got the lamb filling. Very very good, but greasy.
Roast beef sandwich in interesting bread. Tasted like corned beef. Good.
Sticky rice dessert.
Some crawfish dish I didn't get to try.
Ginger candy.
Fried quail egg. Tasted like regular chicken eggs.
Lamb meat kabob.
